Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Education

Pre-Apprenticeship Construction Education is a construction training program focused on preparing people for the construction trade apprenticeship programs and the high paying careers in the construction industry.

PACE is run by an experienced and committed team with strong ties to the union construction apprenticeships. The training focuses on student success and meeting the workforce standards of the industry.

PACE is a part of the Washington State Building and Construction Trades Council, which represents over 100,000 union construction workers in Washington state. PACE is the first pre-apprenticeship program in the country started by a building trade council.


  • 11-weeks of free training
  • Intensive apprenticeship preparation: hand tool & power tool use, exposure to the trades, fitness, blueprint reading, trades math, job preparation.
  • Certifications: flagging, OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, forklift, 40-hour hazwoper.
  • Student qualifications: must pass a drug test, be at least 18 years old, GED/high school diploma preferred. Students will be selected in a competitive try-out.
  • PACE will assist students through the re- licensing process for driver’s licenses and through their apprenticeship application process.
  • PACE serves a diverse population. Women, men, minorities, ex-offenders are all encouraged to apply.
